Silestone Construction in Los Gatos, CA | Viceroy Construction
We provide independent Silestone fabrication, installation, and repair across Los Gatos, from downtown 95030 Victorians to hillside 95033 rebuilds. Our Silestone work here is different because we template against the actual conditions Los Gatos throws at a countertop: out-of-square vintage walls, engineered foundations that are still settling, and WUI fire-hardened rebuilds where the slab is one of the last finishes to go in. Call (877) 358-6557 and we’ll tell you straight whether your counter needs a repair or a re-templated section.
We’re a full-scope general contractor, not a countertop-only shop. That matters when your Silestone kitchen island has to integrate with cabinet runs, a backsplash, and a hood that actually vents. One contract covers all of it. Neil Drummond walks every job before we call it done, and the details you don’t see are the ones that matter most.
Why Los Gatos Residents Choose Us for Silestone Service
The countertop is where the whole kitchen either pulls together or looks wrong. We’ve templated enough Silestone slabs in Los Gatos and nearby communities to know that a Calacatta Gold island in a 1908 bungalow on Tait Avenue cuts differently than the same slab in a new Chapter 7A build above 95033 or a Silestone in Lexington Hills installation. Our approach to Silestone work grew out of doing full remodels across both, so we never template a slab in isolation. We’re checking the cabinet run, the wall it butts against, the seam sightlines, and how the slab will read once the backsplash and range go in.
We buy full Silestone slabs and cut from them ourselves. That gives us control over vein direction, edge profile, and seam placement that a subcontracted fabricator doesn’t have. When we install a Silestone top as part of a kitchen remodel, we own the whole sequence: template, fabrication, install, then the trade that follows. You’re not coordinating between a countertop shop and whoever told you the cabinets were square. We were already on site fixing that problem.
Neil grew up in the Saratoga foothills and trained in the building trades program at West Valley College. The habit of checking a slab against an out-of-level cabinet run came from years of watching what happens when someone doesn’t. We use OEM-matched edge profiles, color-matched seaming adhesive, and quality aftermarket sink clips and support rails for undermount retrofits. We also carry Silestone sales & service knowledge into every job, which means we show up knowing the model you have and what its particular failure points are, not working it out on your dime.

Common Silestone Construction Problems We Solve in Los Gatos
- Chipping at sink and cooktop cutouts on 2cm slabs. We see this constantly in tight galley kitchens in downtown Los Gatos bungalows, where the sink is close to the slab edge. A previous fabricator skips the eased-edge detail and the support rail under the cutout, and the first heavy skillet or dropped pot takes a chip. The fix is proper rail support plus a matched color adhesive repair, or in worse cases re-templating that section.
- Seam failure and visible lippage on bowed Victorian walls. Older homes in 95030 don’t have a straight plaster wall anywhere in the kitchen. When a slab is templated to that bow without documenting it, the seam either opens or you get a lip you can feel every time you wipe the counter. We template to the actual wall profile and shim deliberately before cutting.
- Heat damage and dulled finish around ranges in mid-century ranch kitchens. Los Gatos has a lot of 1950s and 1960s ranch homes that never had a proper downdraft or range hood. Hot pans set near the cutout cause thermal shock that shows up as crazing or a permanently dulled rectangle in the Silestone finish. We flag venting when we see it, because no countertop fixes a kitchen that can’t move heat.
- Staining and ring marks on lighter Silestone whites. This one usually traces back to a previous repair attempt. Someone polished out a scratch with an abrasive, which stripped the factory finish and left a patch that grabs stains and shows water rings. It’s surprisingly common on Blanco City and Blanco Maple counters. We can often restore the finish or, when it’s too far gone, replace the section from slab stock.
- Late-templated islands on new engineered foundations. This is the Los Gatos hillside pattern: the counter gets templated weeks after the cabinets are set on a new foundation that’s still adjusting through its first wet season. We’ve caught rack in cabinet runs before cutting more than once, including a 3/16-inch shift on a Calacatta Gold island off Highway 17 in 95033. We split the island into two veined sections with a book-matched seam and added support rails under the 2cm overhang. After the first atmospheric-river storm, the seam hadn’t moved.
Silestone Service in Los Gatos: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Countertop
A large share of our Silestone templates in 95030 and 95033 are for kitchens inside WUI fire-hardened rebuilds and additions. Los Gatos construction is dominated by hillside and wildland-urban-interface work on steep lots in the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills, where projects routinely require geotechnical slope-stability reports, retaining walls, and Chapter 7A fire-resistant construction. In those jobs, the counter is one of the last finishes to go in. The slab has to be templated against cabinetry that was set only weeks earlier on a new engineered foundation, and that foundation may still be settling through its first wet season. We saw exactly that on a Chapter 7A rebuild off the winding stretch of Highway 17 in 95033, similar to conditions we handle with Silestone service in Cambrian Park. The cabinets had racked 3/16-inch since setting. We caught it before cutting, split the island into two veined sections with a book-matched seam at the sink wall, and added support rails under the overhang. Then we came back after the first storm to confirm the seam held. In Los Gatos, the countertop isn’t just a finish. It’s the test of whether everything under it was set right.
Silestone Models & Products We Service in Los Gatos
We work across the Silestone line, including the Calacatta series, Calacatta Gold, the Eternal Series with Eternal Calacatta and Eternal Marfil, Blanco City and Blanco Maple, Lyra, and the marble-look veined slabs. Our fabrication comes from full Silestone slabs, which means vein direction is confirmed with you before we cut, not left to whoever is running the saw. We use OEM-matched edge profiles and color-matched seaming adhesives so a repair blends into the surrounding slab instead of announcing itself. For undermount retrofits, we stock quality aftermarket sink clips and support rails locally, and that keeps Los Gatos turnaround faster than ordering in every time. If you have more than a couple of chips or a seam that failed in an awkward spot, we’ll tell you directly whether a targeted repair will hold or whether you’re better off re-templating that section. A good repair on a lighter Silestone white is part materials and part patience.

What drives the top end in Los Gatos is usually the truck and staging logistics: narrow downhill driveways off Highway 17 in 95033, limited-hours permits, or a slab that has to be carried around a retaining wall because the excavator can’t reach the side door. We include that in the quote upfront, not as a change order after we show up. Every free estimate tells you what a repair will cost versus a re-templated section, and we’d rather tell you a repair won’t hold before you spend on it. Call (877) 358-6557 for a written, line-item quote.

FAQs – Silestone Construction in Los Gatos
Yes. We template to the actual wall profile, not the drawing. Older Victorians and bungalows in 95030 almost never have a straight wall in the kitchen, and we measure the bow with a straightedge and document it before templating. The slab gets cut to follow the wall and shimmed deliberately, so the seam sits flush and doesn’t open six months later. It’s standard for us, not an upcharge. Call (877) 358-6557 and we’ll measure yours.
Usually yes, on the timing side. The counter gets templated late in the build, after cabinets are set on a new engineered foundation that may still be settling through its first wet season. We check the cabinet run for rack before we cut, and we’ve caught enough movement on hillside rebuilds off Highway 17 that we now assume the first reading isn’t final, a careful approach we also bring to Silestone service in Saratoga. If your island has a 2cm overhang, we add support rails under it as standard practice, not an option.
It can, and the biggest preventable factor is the support rail and eased edge at the cutout. When the slab is 2cm and the sink sits close to the edge, the cutout is the weak point. A fabricator who skips the rail saves ten minutes and a few dollars of material. A dropped skillet then takes a chip when it otherwise wouldn’t. We install the rail and cut the eased edge on every Calacatta Gold sink wall, and the difference shows up over years of daily use. Call (877) 358-6557 and we’ll quote your specific layout.
Yes, but it takes planning. On hillside jobs in 95033, full Silestone slabs often go up on narrow winding driveways where the concrete truck needed traffic control and a limited-hours permit. We stage the slab at the flattest point, carry it in, and template on site. If the driveway can’t take a boom, we cut on site from slab stock. It costs more than a flatland delivery, and we’ll say so in the estimate rather than surprising you with a logistics line after the slab is ordered. Get a line-item quote at (877) 358-6557.
Sometimes. One or two chips at a sink cutout, a dulled patch from a bad polish repair, or a ring stain on a heavier veined slab can often be repaired for a few hundred dollars, not a full replacement. But a failed seam in a high-use spot, multiple chips, or a lighter Silestone white with finish damage across a wide area may not hold with a repair. We’ll tell you honestly which way to go, with numbers for both. The estimate is free. Call (877) 358-6557.
